What To Do Before Apple iPhone Repairs: Make Sure You Back Up And Reset Your iPhone To Avoid Losing Your Data
Part 2: How to reset your iPhone
Once you’ve backed up your iPhone, the next thing you need to do before any Apple iPhone repairs is reset the phone.
Before Apple iPhone repairs also remember to remove the SIM. Your SIM card could have information on it you may need, and it can pay to keep this with you to put back in your repaired device.
How to reset your iPhone:
- Go into Settings – General
- Scroll down until you see Reset
- Erase all content and settings
- You might have to enter your code or password before you can reset it
- Enter your Apple ID password. This removes your Apple ID from the phone and turns off Find My iPhone
Resetting the phone this way prevents it from asking for an Apple ID when it is restored.
If you only restore your iPhone from iTunes, you will have to enter the Apple ID and password once it turns back on.
Once you have reset your phone, the screen will be blank for a few minutes. After a minute or so the welcome screen should appear. Once you see the welcome screen your device is ready to be sold or for Apple iPhone repairs.
While it may seem unnecessary, it is crucial that you properly back up and reset your device before any Apple iPhone repairs. If you neglect to do so, you run the risk of losing all your data.
Its also important to reset any iPhone you sell to someone – otherwise they will find themselves unable to use it.
