Don’t Forget To Back Up And Reset Your iPhone! Read On To Find Out How:
With all Apple phone repairs, it is essential that you back up your phone.
Failure of backing up the data on your iPhone could lead to the contents of your iPhone being deleted during the repair. Knowing how to back up your iPhone will also be useful if you ever want to sell your iPhone.
Before taking your iPhone in for Apple phone repairs, you need to reset it to delete all your accounts – including Apple ID, Facebook, ebay, email, and all other accounts, as well as deleting all of your content such as apps, photos and music.
Backing up your iPhone:
Regardless of if you do or don’t use iCloud, it still pays to do a full back up of your iPhone to your computer. You can do so by:
- Connecting your device to your computer, unlock it and wait for it to show up in iTunes
- Click the left hand pane, which should open up the Summary screen
- In the Summary screen you should be able to see a Backups section
- Click the Back Up Now button
- Make sure to tick the Encrypt iPhone backup box if you want your passwords saved
This works for iPads as well as iPhones.
How to reset iPhones and iPads:
Reset your iPhone or iPad to factory settings by doing the following:
- Settings → General → Reset → Erase all content and settings
- You will be asked to put in your passcode and Apple ID
Soft reset your iPhone or iPad:
- If your phone has frozen and you need to restart it, hold the power button and home button down at the same time.
- Keep holding the two buttons down until the device turns off and you see the Apple logo
- Once you can see the Apple logo you can let go and your device should go back to normal
