iPhone 4 Screen Repair Found To Be More Difficult – Despite Steve Job’s Claims That It Is More Durable Than Previous Models
The difference between the iPhone 3g and the iPhone 4 was massive. The new design marked the iPhone 4 as almost an entirely separate product.
The differences were not only external but internal as well. iPhone 4 promised faster processing and a much more advanced camera, amongst other things.
Steve Jobs claimed the iPhone 4 had also been redesigned to be much more durable than previous products. He quoted it as being “ultra-durable and more scratch resistant than ever.”
However, various drop tests showed the iPhone 4 being shattered after only a few drops.
iPhone 4 Drop Test Shows It’s Lack Of Durability:
It seems that as technology gets more and more advanced, it gets less and less durable. That seems to be the price we pay for these fancy gadgets – and it makes sense considering you are basically carrying around a futuristic mini computer in your pocket. Have that in and out of your hand all day and its going to fall and break every so often – its almost inevitable.
Perhaps then asking for durability in smartphones is asking too much – for now at least.
Another drawback of each advancement of new tech gadgets is that they seem to become less and less easy to repair. iPhone 4 screen repair in particular has been found to be difficult, with the design of the iPhone 4 and 4s making screen replacement challenging.
Similarly, the iPhone 5 was marketed as being scratch and crack resistant – even more so than the iPhone 4.
Yet drop tests proved that the iPhone 5 was still just as susceptible to breakages, with iPhone 5 screens shattering on the fifth drop.
iPhone 5 repair was found to be easier than iPhone 4 screen repair however. Experts found that the iPhone 5 had been redesigned in order to allow an easier removal of a cracked screen.
In terms of durability therefore, Apple does seem to be making strides with its most recent products. Both durability and repairability seems to improve with the release of each of their products.
While iPhone 4 screen repair was found to be much more difficult than iPhone 3G screen repair, it is a much more advanced model. A small drop in durability therefore is to be expected.
