iPhone Glass Repair: Will Sapphire Glass Make iPhone Screens More Durable?
iPhone 7 – so close, and yet so far away.
With Apples iPhone 7 being speculated for release in September of this year, rumours are running wild as to just what new features Apple will introduce to the tech sphere.
One aspect of the iPhone that looks set to be updated dramatically is the iPhone screen. Apple have filed a patent to explore the idea of a wrap around screen, possibly to be created using a flexible OLED display.
To protect the screen from any damage, Apple suggests using a sturdy material such as glass or sapphire.
The patent states that this technology could be used not only for iPhones, but for Macs, iPads and MacBooks.

Somewhat ironically, Apple has employed their biggest competitor, Samsung, to help them with the creation of their latest iPhone. Samsung are rumoured to be helping Apple create a flexible design for the iPhone 7 screen display.
Apple has never produced a product with flexible displays. However some of their biggest competitors have, including Samsung. Samsung released a flexible screen display with its Galaxy S6 Edge Smartphone, as well as LG with its line of Flex handsets.

OLED Screen Displays In New iPhones Could Eliminate Need For iPhone Glass Repair
As of yet, the Apple Watch is the only Apple product to have OLED displays. However that looks set to change with Apple possibly using OLED displays as soon as 2008, with the iPhone 8 – possibly even as soon as the iPhone 7, which is set to be released in September of this year.
However at the moment this is only a patent application made by Apple. Therefore it is unconfirmed as to whether they will end up actually using the technology. Despite this, rumours are strife that we could see it in the iPhone 7 later this year.
If Apple does successfully create wrap around screen, it will be interesting to see how durable it will be. A wrap around screen is of course likely to make iPhone glass repair more common, due to an even more exposed glass screen.
However the use of Sapphire glass could definitely minimize the need for iPhone glass repair, due its sturdiness. If Apple does go ahead with Sapphire glass in its next iPhone, it could even eliminate the need for iPhone glass repair entirely.
